Ryan Jarman’s favourite gig? JOHNNY MARR’s favourite album? Ever wondered which one of the Jarman brothers was sick over Def Leppard?
Never fear, New York tonal poet Jeffrey Lewis has answered all the tip of the tongue questions about THE CRIBS through the medium of comic.
Check it. Yay.

We’re off for a picnic. Have a sunful afternoon.
The Cribs have today confirmed the release of their fourth album ‘Ignore The Ignorant’. Produced and mixed by Nick Launay (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Arcade Fire, Nick Cave…) at Seedy Underbelly Studio, Laurel Canyon, LA and British Grove in London, the album is the band’s first as a four – piece with the relatively new addition of guitarist Johnny Marr and heralds a marked leap for the band on the road to next level-ness.
Released on 7th September on Wichita ‘Ignore the Ignorant’ will include the following tracks:
We Were Aborted // Cheat On Me // We Share the Same Skies // City Of Bugs // Hari Kari // Last Year’s Snow // Emasculate Me // Ignore the Ignorant // Save Your Secrets // Nothing // Victim Of Mass Production // Stick To Yr Guns.
1st single will be ‘cheat on me’..
September. Month of cold, crisp sunshine, shortening days and The Cribs. Put it in your diary.
Well last night saw the passing of the 2009 Mojo Music Awards and over this morning’s croissants and freshly squeezed um bongo we cheered with delight to learn that FLEET FOXES, WHITE LIES and JOHNNY MARR all picked up gongs last night.
In the words of one maligned Alvy Singer: ‘All they do in this town is give awards. Best Fascist Dictator: Adolph Hitler’. Hmm..we have been watching Annie Hall too much, clearly, however in this case, the awarding of awards certainly went to very worthy recipients (and no fascists):
Fleet Foxes picked up the ‘Best Live Act’ award – Anyone privy to their Roundhouse shows in February (or elsewhere, for that matter) can attest to the fact that Fleet Foxes live is arguably better than christmas.
White Lies bagged the ‘Mojo Breakthrough Award’. Brilliant news.
Johnny Marr received the award for ‘Classic Songwriter’ from former Suede guitarist, Bernard Butler. Johnny said he was ‘very honoured’. No, Johnny, we with ears are honoured.
Well done to all. We’re thrilled.
We were down in Charing Cross last night to see the Cribs and their new addition, rent-a-living legend and Chrysalis artist, Johnny Marr, playing a packed out Heaven. They were showcasing half a dozen new songs and they sounded mighty good. Can’t wait for the release of the new record due sometime in the summertime or just after..
