– I Am Kloot at Bush Hall. IPhone picture fail –  Steve Jobs will undoubtedly be turning in his poloneck

Still, photos aside, I AM KLOOT were in tremendous form last night in front of an adoring crowd in She Bu. They played the forthcoming LP, ‘Sky at Night’, in full with a cast of extras on strings, tenor sax, piano and guit. Magic. Then they played forty five minutes on top full of old favs – among them  ‘proof’, ‘storm coming’, ‘to you’, ‘titanic’ and, for the 2nd encore, ’86 tvs’. Andy Hargreaves drummed with an unshakeable grin on his face throughout. Entirely similar to how the crowd watched.

Found a nice little album preview on t’internet. Check it out.

This is quite old now but VERY good (Rather like Helen Mirren or the invention of bread). But we publish all the music of the show through Mushroom in Australia, which is most exciting. Particularly when you contemplate a lyric like ‘Annabel Dixon, when girls take drugs and then they die, who would have thought, at Summer Heights High’.  Anyway, if you don’t know this then get involved. And let Mr G entertain you on youtube..

Something we’re  enjoying today from across the North Sea, a little SHANE SHU. I like it for the (obscene) quiff and the girl who is WELL buff. Also it’s got an undeniably superb chorus.

In other news: CANDIE PAYNE does a very nice session at Abbey Rd // THE BIG PINK cover Beyonce at Isle of Wight festival // and DELOREAN pack the Echo in LA with plenty of dancing hipsters. oh yeah.

Now grab your brollys and run for home, sun-denied people of Britain.

All you need to know about I am Kloot:

They’re a three piece  //  From Manchester // Johnny Bramwell is Pete Doherty’s 4th favourite lyricist, Felix from the Maccabees thinks they’re better than everything, Danny Boyle loves them and used them for end titles in his film Sunshine // Their first and last two albums were produced by Guy Garvey // Johnny and Steve Coogan were both stand up comics together // At this time he was known as Johnny Dangerous // Their new LP, ‘Sky at Night’  is out on 5th July (and it’s mighty good) // Pete and Johnny used to work at legendary music venue, Night and Day // Drink milk before drinking with them // And have a sandwich (courtesy of Gareth).

Oh and, they’re massively brilliant. If you don’t believe me then go to hell. Or listen to our Chrysalisafriday playlist dedicated with much awe and love to the wonderment of  I AM KLOOT and discover for yourself. Simply click here

Woop woop! THE (fantastic) LOW ANTHEM won the Mojo Breakthrough Award last night!  In the words of  Mojo editor-in-chief, Phil Alexander: ‘The Low Anthem are a classic American band in the making. Their last album, Oh My God Charlie Darwin, which came out on Bella Union last year, fired up the MOJO readers’ imagination with its mix of Dylan-meets-Waits Americana. To be honest they’re still a well kept secret but this year will belong to them. Mojo readers prove themselves once again one step ahead of the pack by voting them the breakthrough act of the last 12 months’.

In the words of us: ‘brilliant brilliant brilliant’.

Delorean by Will

Sometimes we like to talk about one band in particular that is filling our ears with delight. On such an occasion as is this we might show you some videos, post some reviews, give you release dates, say why we like them, say why you might like them (in the least dogmatic way possible). Which is basically what we’ve done below:

So, on the back of the wondrous ‘Ayrton Senna’ EP DELOREAN release ‘Subiza’ this very week in June in the UK. The Times say ‘Balearic Classic’. Fwoar // Pitchfork say 8.4 (8. Fwoar) // David O Bryan says: ‘Dreamy, electronic amazingness’ // Gareth Smith says: ‘I like it a LOT’ // I say: ‘take your pennies to the rough trade, buy the LP that these bliss pop wizards made’ // and do watch some videos below (porque este grupo es MUY bien, mis amigos) // (because this band is REALLY good, my friends).
