What are bank holidays for? Raving (dur..). Here is a playlist for grinding teeth and soon-to-be-sweat-soaked t shirts, for dead bottle filled fields and laserful basements, for those who regard last tubes with fierce contempt, who will come up smiling on Monday afternoon with tight legs and half full heads… Here is your playlist. Now go forth and find your party.

Here’s one of London’s best temporary ice rinks:

And here are the links:

BIG BOI interviewed in a barber shop (about Kate Bush. yes) by pitchfork // Why everyone should love METRIC (we already do) // What’s that you say? – PETE LAWRIE plays Radio 1 big weekend? Magic. // Oh and there’s this. Lovely DELOREAN remix put behind a little Sofia Coppola… for your enjoyment below. Now go forth and remove all your clothes in a park (you’re British, remember – Sunshine is to be gorged on disgracefully when it appears).

Pendulum ‘Immersion’ is out, people by Will

Fear not, ye masses who have eagerly awaited a follow up to 2008’s ‘In Silico’, ye who have floundered in a Pendulum-less ether, ye who like beats large and bass larger, for PENDULUM are back. The LP is called ‘Immersion’ and it demands your attentive ears. From the filmic (dare I say John Willliams Hogwarts inspired) ‘Genesis’ to the slick and filthy, cut up, mastery of ‘The Island Pt 2 – Dusk’ we have here Pendulum doing what they do best – BIG melodic dance rock par excellence. Now go forth and investigate more either here or here or here or here.

And the video for the first single, ‘Watercolour’ below for your perusal..

Ivor. Not just an engine. by Will

Let’s call a container’s contents ‘excitement’, first of all. Then let’s say that we are struggling to keep the latter in the former. Here’s why – BAT FOR LASHES won the Ivor for ‘Best Contemporary Song’ for ‘Daniel’. Natasha’s work has long deserved to be recognised (gong-ily) and after two mercury nominations in as many albums it seems like someone on a comittee finally has had some sense. We are absolutley delighted.

Another great happiness was watching JOHNNY MARR pick up his Ivor Inspiration Award. I’m not going to say much about this. The Ivors refused our request to rename this award the Unassuming-godlike-guitar-wizard-idol-pioneer-pan-generational-icon-only-23-when-the-smiths-disbanded-what-an-amazing-feat-is-that-in-itself-telecaster-or-rickenbacker-doesn’t-matter-give-him-a-piece-of-string-attached-to-a-broomstick-and-you’ll-end-up-moved-mancunian-hero award. So I suppose ‘Inspiration’ will do.

Our sympathies go to PATCH WILLIAM, NINA WOODFORD and FRASER T SMITH for coming away awardless, however ne’er a truer word spoke than to say that in the case of the Ivors, a nomination in itself is an accolade worthy of celebration.

For your aural pleasure, some musical highlights of the nominees in playlist form. HERE.

When you’re in EDWARD SHARPE & THE MAGNETIC ZEROS, this is how life is. From now on I plan on existing through the medium of super 8 film.

Elswhere.. THE LOW ANTHEM have been nominated in the MOJO honours list in the ‘breakthrough’ category. Vote here!  Also check out their stupendous bandwidth session. Do it. // LEFTFIELD‘s Neil Barnes reacts to the massive collective euphoria from the public as he gears up to play dates across Europe this summer // More on BIG BOI‘s forthcoming  ‘Sir Luscious Leftfoot’ solo project and album //

That is all for now, condemotives of Britain.

Good day. What we don’t have is a government that will be able to make any decisions. What we do have is this video made by PAUL PILOT. We like it and I think you will too. Now go forth and embrace the weekend.
