Each year a group of amateur British cyclists known as the Fireflies completes an eight-day 1,000km ride through the French Alps to raise money for leukaemia research, adopting the motto ‘For those who suffer we ride’. This film follows them through breathtaking landscapes, personal perils and struggles with willpower.
A fun project to work on being a somewhat obsessed road cyclist myself and whilst not being a ‘firefly’ have ridden most of the climbs and can appreciate the pain and suffering as well as the absolute elation and sense of achievement that comes with descending the Col du Galibier at 50 miles per hour having spent three hours slowly working your way up in agony.
If you can – go see it. And.. watch the trailer here
